Car Boot Sale Find of the Week

I bought lots of lovely things this week but this was by far the best!! A Laura Ashley ceiling light for £2... im not complaining! I love the flower silhouette left all around my dining room from it :D

The Fly - Away - Umbrella Tea Cozy

I like tea, especially with custard creams or digestives mmmm. They are deffo not the best thing for my Slimming World diet though... not helpful. Anyways, tea without biscuits is still great! When  you just want to chill, or you are catching up with friends, there's nothing better than a nice 'tuppa tea ti relax you and slow you down. To make the tea - time experience even more lovely, keep your tuppa tea nice warm... because not many of us like cold tea!

Crafty Needs:
Pins, needles and scissors
Fabric for tea cozy
Wadding
Felt for lining
Iron
Scraps of fabric / felt for appliqué
Sewing machine
Fabric Glue
Pen
Ribbon for handle loop

1. First you will need to measure the height and circumference of your teapot and, from paper, cut out a cozy - shaped pattern piece that will fit it! Add a 1 cm seam allowance all the way around. Then use that pattern to cut out 2 pieces from the main fabric, two pieces from the wadding, and two from the lining felt.

2. Add any applique you like to the . I made a lady getting swept of her feet by an umbrella! I used felt and then fabric for the umbrella. Then collage it together on the front of the cozy. I used fabric glue to stick it.

3. Fold a strip of ribbon in half and iron it. Tack it to the top of the right side of the undecorated piece of main fabric, with the looped end facing down.

4. Lay one wadding piece flat, place the two main fabric pieces right sides together on top of the wadding, then lay the second piece of wadding on top of the stack. Align all the edges and pin the layers together. Taking a 1 cm seam allowance, machine sew around the curved edge, leaving the bottom straight edge open. Turn right side out so the loop sticks out!

5. Pin the lining pieces right sides together and sew around the curved edge as in step 4, but leaving a 10cm opening at the centre top. Leave this piece wrong side out.

6. Push the main fabric and wadding piece into the lining piece, so that the right side of the main fabric is facing the right side of the lining. Match and pin the botton edges. Stitch around the bottom edge, taking a 1cm seam allowance.

7. Carefully pull the cozy right side out through the hole in the top of the lining. Pill the main fabric right through, then keep pulling until the lining is turned completely right side out. Slip stitch the gap in the lining closed. Push the lining inside the cozy, give the whole thing a quick iron to smooth out any creases, and you've done it!!

Scottie Dogs, Christmas Bunting, Cake Pops and Tonnes of Fun!

Lauren's parents have been to the lovely Lake Districts for a three day break with her aunty and uncle. So, Georgina and baby Luke decided to have a three day mini holiday of our own at Lauren's home.
We got up to all sorts and had lots of fun.

This is Lauren's wee Scottie dog for her christmas tree! We love tartan! Lauren is going to put up the tutorial soon, so take a look on the tutorial page.

And we made cake pops! Love the little piggy!

Lots of love Georgina and Lauren xxx
